💡 Sharps Memorization Rule

Never attempt to memorize basic strategy as 300 isolated cells. Group dealer upcards into two distinct categories: Weak Cards (2 through 6, where the dealer has a 35%–42% bust rate) and Strong Cards (7 through Ace, where the dealer will make a 17–21 over 75% of the time).

Against weak cards, your job is not to build a 20 — it is to avoid busting yourself while letting the dealer break.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does 11 double against Ace on H17 tables but hit on S17? ▼

Because on H17, the dealer must hit soft 17, which increases their overall bust rate from 11.6% to 15.3% when showing an Ace. That extra bust equity flips 11 from a hit to a profitable double.

How does European No Hole Card (ENHC) change basic strategy? ▼

In ENHC games, the dealer does not take a hole card until players have acted. If the dealer gets a blackjack, players lose all doubles and splits. Therefore, you do NOT double 11 vs 10, nor split 8,8 vs 10 or Ace.

Is it legal to use a basic strategy chart in a casino? ▼

Yes! Physical casinos and live online dealer games permit players to hold a strategy chart at the table, as long as it does not slow down the pace of the game or touch the betting felt.
